A gritty performance from the 2006 champions sees them save face at 1-0 down on their travels to Estonia. Italy came out in a lopsided 4-3-3 with the Sampdoria duo Cassano and Pazzini, with the newly signed Juventus man Simone Pepe manning the right flank. Italy played a fairly flat midfield 3 of De Rossi, Pirlo, and Montolivo. A starting debut for the excellent Mattia Cassani at right back highlighted a frankly shaky back five for Italy, with the young Salvatore Sirigu in between the posts. Continue reading

Cause the zoo is just so close and this track makes me happier than watching Mike Prate trying to draft a fantasy football team. After the international qualifiers/friendly matches tomorrow I hope to have a few posts with tactical analysis up.

Classic Serie A Game of the Day: Palermo punish Milan yet again.

One of the best games I’ve watched in recent memory, this classic Palermo 3-1 victory over Italian giants A.C. Milan helped the Sicilian side clinch a berth in European competition for the 2010-2011 season. This was also the game that helped bring Abel ‘La Joya’ Hernandez to the spotlight, and cement him in the category of great young players in Europe.
